Teshie, Ghana
communal service block
In Teshie, we aim to roll out a network of Communal Service Blocks (CSBs) under the Safi Sana franchise concept. Safi Sana began construction of the first CSB in early 2011. This toilet unit is the initial test facility in the community. It is a 20-seater public toilet with a kiosk for buying potable water. The toilet replaces an old aqua privy toilet facility that was in a very poor, unsanitary condition. This facility is one of two public toilets that are part of the pilot in the east Accra region. During the pilot we will conduct extensive monitoring and evaluation of the social, operational and technical aspects of the CSB in Teshie.
project status
The construction of the CSB began in February 2011 and has been finished in the beginning of October 2011 and has been operational since November 2011. The block is operated by the local company Jekora Ventures Ltd.
