Safi Sana was initiated by Aqua for All in a consortium of commercial and public partners, including Royal Dutch Shell, Rabobank, DHV and Waterboard Regge & Dinkel.

Safi Sana Foundation and Safi Sana Holding Ltd were formally institutionalized in 2010 in The Netherlands, with the organization operating in Ghana through its local branch, Safi Sana Ghana Ltd.

This structure of Safi Sana Foundation as a non-profit fund raising organization and 100% owner of Safi Sana Holding Ltd, reflects our philosophy of a market driven approach as a basic principle for establishing sustainable operations, as it allows the holding company to operate as a business, reporting to the board of Safi Sana Foundation, its shareholder.

Safi Sana cooperates with local private and institutional partners, NGOs, and government under a ‘tripartite partnership’. For each project we work with at least one local partner, who adds market expertise and a strong network, making successful implementation and acceptance more likely.
