Safisana Ghana Ltd., located in Adjei Kojo, Ashaiman (Greate Accra Area) is seeking to hire a full-time Operations Manager to lead the Safisana waste to resource plant.
About us
Safisana is an international social enterprise that has developed a circular business model for local waste treatment for governments, utilities and food processing industries. In the Safisana recycling plant, we turn organic waste and faecal sludge into high-value products: renewable energy (biogas and electricity), organic fertiliser and irrigation water.
In the coming 4 years, we wish to develop two other recycling plants in Ghana. In your role, you have the responsibility to deliver goods and services that are produced safely, cost-effectively and on time and to meet required quality standards. The success of this plant is the basis for growth in the Ghanaian market and beyond. In this position, you are able to grow responsibility, as the business grows.
About your role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for leading operations and coordinating activities at the current and future Safisana plants in Ghana. The Operations Manager will supervise the work of the Plant Manager and Operations teams which includes sourcing, energy production, treatment and compost production. The Operations Manager will focus on creating and managing a safe and effective operational management for our plants.
The ideal candidate will be tasked to achieve safety, quality, customer service, efficiency, profitability, technical and delivery requirements for all our plants by overseeing multiple processes and ancillary operations. The Operations Manager will proactively lead and manage the team and individual performance for production. The Operations Manager will ensure the whole production team is working as the lowest cost producer with the highest quality output.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for all operational targets
- Improve and standardise operational management systems, processes and best practices without compromising safety or quality for all plants
- Review and implement plans for the effective use of material and labour resources to achieve operational and budgetary targets
- Accountable for quality controls and health and safety standards
- Accountable for the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent workforce
- Responsibility for maintenance planning of production equipment and machine
- Analyse and provide solutions to production challenges or problems
- Accountable for the end quality of products and services
- Lead on procurement processes
- Liaise with line managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements
Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering; Master’s degree is a plus
- At least 5 years of experience in an operations management role in a processing or production industry
- Deep knowledge of production management
- Experience in building and training teams
- Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
- IT and numerical skills; proficient in MS Office
