Vacancy: Project Manager
at Safisana Ghana Ltd. in Accra

Safisana Ghana, located in Adjei Kojo, Ashaiman, is seeking to hire a full-time Project Manager to be responsible for leading and coordinating projects  and  innovations at its plants. The position will initially be on a contract basis for 6 months.

About Safisana
Safisana is an international social enterprise that has developed a circular and affordable waste recycling model for governments, utilities and food processing industries. Our recycling plant in Ashaiman opened in 2017 as the first waste-to resource plant in West Africa. Here we treat faecal waste and organic waste and turn it into a resource to produce renewable energy and organic fertilizer. This way Safisana serves around 150,000 people with impact on multiple SDGs related to climate, health, sanitation and food security. In the coming decade, we expect to replicate the Safisana model recycling plant in and outside Ghana and to exponentially grow our impact.

About the job 
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for leading projects and coordinating innovation projects for current and future Safisana plants in Ghana.  In your role, you have the responsibility to deliver projects and innovations that improve operations, deliver operational excellence and to accelerate the scale up of Safisana plants in Ghana. You will take charge of  the development of processes as well as perform risk assessments to determine potential strengths and weaknesses of a project. You will have to research market trends, upcoming innovations, and technical advancements in industry to make sure Safisana is always offering state-of-the-art solutions. In this role you will work closely together with Safisana's expert consultants, advisors, contractors, suppliers and service providers to achieve this.

Responsibilities 

  • Plan and develop new projects from concept phase to implementation of project
  • Develop full scale project plans; facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables; define project tasks and resource requirements
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff
  • Manage project budget and project resource allocation
  • Plan and schedule project timelines; track project deliverables using appropriate tools; report and escalate to management as needed
  • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction; constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management analysis to mitigate project risks
  • Report and escalate to upper management as and when needed
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive project documentation
  • Solve issues that arise; implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties / vendors
  • Execute project evaluations and assessment of results

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering; Master’s degree is a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, PMP certification a plus
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • IT and numerical skills; proficient in MS Office and Google
