From the 1st of May, five Safisana employees stepped into their new roles within the organization. With this step, we strengthen Safisana’s capacity to grow and scale our impact. Employee empowerment is one of Safisana’s core values. We believe in equality, diversity, and the empowerment of our people. Safisana’s collaborative work environment encourages open communication, mutual respect, and teamwork to motivate our workforce for collective success. We are proud to congratulate Elizabeth Karl Adu, Fiona Ashitey, Francis Owusu, Philemon Kwame Osei, and Samuel Kwado Bewakwa Mensah on their new and well-deserved positions. Together, Safisana’s team strives to achieve our shared mission: to become the standardized circular model in sustainable waste management, producing high-value products such as renewable energy and Asase Gyefo Premium Organic Fertilizer while improving the social, economic, and environmental living standards in non-sewered urban areas.

Female Leadership at Safisana

We are especially proud to highlight the promotion of Elizabeth Karl Adu, who has been working at Safisana for over four years. Elizabeth is a powerful example of female empowerment and leadership in action. With her experience, Elizabeth demonstrated highly professional and analytical capabilities, with a deep understanding of our operational and financial systems.

“While female leadership is growing in Ghana, it is still not as widespread as it should be. There are many capable and qualified women, but challenges remain in breaking traditional barriers. I believe that continued advocacy, mentorship, and supportive workplaces like Safisana can help change that narrative. Safisana has been incredibly supportive of my professional journey. I’ve had opportunities to attend training programs, work closely with senior leadership, and take on challenging projects that pushed me to grow. The culture here encourages learning and recognizes potential. I am looking forward to driving strategic financial initiatives that support Safisana’s growth and sustainability goals.”

Elizabeth Karl Adu, Financial Manager

Fiona Ashitey, Executive Assistant to the General Manager, adds: “Job opportunities for women in Ghana have improved over the years, with more women taking on roles in leadership, business, and technical fields. Safisana demonstrates a commitment to female empowerment by creating an inclusive work environment where women are given equal opportunities to grow, lead, and contribute meaningfully. Safisana encourages women to thrive professionally and personally.”

Capitalizing on Safisana's Local Capacity for Growth

At Safisana, we value the promotion of talent within the organization as it allows us to capitalize on the knowledge and passion of our workforce. Their experience makes them the perfect fit for higher positions needed to scale up Safisana’s operations. Safisana's General Manager, Elikplim Asilevi, says, "Our team continues to demonstrate unwavering dedication to Safisana’s mission. These internal promotions are a strategic step toward strengthening local capacity and leadership. We are particularly encouraged by the growing representation of women in leadership roles, an important part of our commitment to building an inclusive and empowered workforce. We are confident that these individuals will be instrumental as we prepare to scale our operations in Ghana and across the region."

As we continue to expand our impact, we are proud to rely on the strength, expertise, and dedication of our people.
