A brand new team of Safisana waste collectors has been trained this week and the first batches of organic waste are brought in at our pilot site at #OtiLandfill in #Kumasi, ready to be treated and used to produce premium and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer.

The recycling pilot provides treatment of organic waste and faecal waste from the local communities in the #KumasiMetropolitanArea. Faecal waste from 2000 households is provided by the wonderful Clean Team Ghana to be treated and recycled on-site, together with the organic waste from the three main food markets in Kumasi - Bantama, Race Course and Abinkyi markets.

The Safisana waste collection team of 6 people will come and pick up waste on a daily basis at the markets

The Safisana waste collection team of 6 people will come and pick up waste on a daily basis at the markets - providing a cleaner and healthier environment for all the people who work and visit the markets. The composting team under the leadership of compost supervisor Elvis Amoako, quality specialist Samuel Mensah, and waste specialist George Owusu Sekyere will make sure the nutrients are recovered from the waste and reused to produce safe and certified Asase Gyefo Premium Organic Fertilizer.

With special thanks to project manager Frederick Agyemang, and our partners in this pilot the #KumasiMetropolitanAssembly and the great people of Clean Team Ghana!
